Veteran Services is a department under the direction of the McLeod County Board of Commissioners. The Veterans Service Officers are appointed officials as directed by State Statute to act as a liaison between local veterans and both the State of Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Their primary responsibility is to provide assistance in obtaining veterans benefits including: medical care, financial, employment and education assistance, burial and death benefits, as well as other services or information as required.

The Veterans Service Officers represent the County and work with local Veterans Organizations to include the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the McLeod County Veterans Association.

As a Deputy Recorder for McLeod County, this office also processes all official copies of military discharges.
