Parks and Recreation encompasses McLeod County Parks, Trails and Fairgrounds Facilities.
McLeod County Parks:
McLeod County has six County Parks totaling 571 acres. Two parks are regional facilities which allow overnight camping. The other four parks are day parks. Park location: Buffalo Creek Park (Glencoe), Swan Lake Park (Silver Lake), William May Park (Winsted), Stahl's Lake Park (Hutchinson), Lake Marion Regional Park (Brownton), and Piepenburg Regional Park (Hutchinson). Camping facilities are available at Lake Marion and Piepenburg Park.

Day Parks:
Park hours are 8:00 am to sunset.
Campgrounds:
The campground reservation system allows our customers the convenience of logging in from home to reserve campsites. Camping season will run April 28 through October 23, 2023. RV/Electric campsite for 2023 will be $30.00 per night (plus tax) and Tent or non-electric will be $23.00 per night (plus tax).
Online Campground & Shelter Reservations:
For 2023 reservations, we will be using the online reservation system. You will be required to create a logon account. Online campground reservations open Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 8:00 am
Parks and Recreation Reservations
Please note: Additional fees will be charged by the credit card company if using credit or debit card, these fees will not appear on your receipt from the Parks & Recreation department, but will be reflected on your credit card statement. (3% or higher, based on the credit card type used).
Camping Cancellation/Refunds: If the reservation is cancelled 14 days or more prior to the arrival date, a $10 administration fee per site will be forfeited. If the reservation is cancelled fewer than 14 days prior to the arrival date, the first nights camping fee plus a $10 administration fee per site will be forfeited. The refund will be issued back in a check. Please allow 2-3 weeks for processing.
The park shelters are online, the reservation system opens March 1, 2023 at 8 am. Customers are able to reserve park picnic shelters located at the following parts: Buffalo Creek (Glencoe); Swan Lake Park (Silver Lake); William May Park (Winsted); Stahl's Lake (Hutchinson); two shelters at Lake Marion Park (Brownton); two shelters at Piepenburg Park (Hutchinson); starting April 28 and ending October 23, 2023. Reservations are $50 per day.
