Public Health Emergency Preparedness

Local Public Health is prepared to respond to a public health emergency in the event of a naturally occurring infectious disease outbreak, such as pandemic influenza, or a deliberate release of a biological agent, which may infect many.

Depending on the agent, either mass clinics would be held to provide medications or immunizations to the public or, if there is no medication or vaccine to treat the disease, isolation and quarantine strategies would be implemented.
