Clean In Clean Out training is a short online or home study class available to anyone interested in learning about AIS laws in Minnesota. The training is free and can be found here.

AIS Violations - Mandatory Training


Anyone convicted of or subject to a final order for a violation of Minnesota Statute 84D (Aquatic Invasive Species law) involving water-related equipment must successfully complete this class before continuing to operate or use water-related equipment.

AIS violations include:

  • Transporting aquatic plants on public roads
  • Launching with plants attached
  • Transporting or possessing prohibited species
  • Launching into waters with AIS attached
  • Failure to drain water/failure to have drain plug out
  • Transporting water without a permit
